Role: Head of Infrastructure

Location: WFH/Hybrid – potential visits to Mansfield, Nottinghamshire HQ on occasion

Salary: £60-70k + 10% Bonus + Benefits Package

Are you an IT Manager / IT Director / Head of ICT & Infrastructure with experience in the provision of high availability, cyber safe infrastructure for a hybrid (on-premise & cloud) Software provider (Saas)?

Our client are a leading Healthcare Software vendor and require a technical innovator to lead their infrastructure development. To be successful you must be a natural collaborator and communicator who can both lead and develop infrastructure teams as well as have technical, hands-on ability to manage Windows & Linux virtualised environments (hundreds of servers). You must also have an understanding of cloud based (AWS &/or Azure) hosting.


You will deliver an IT infrastructure that is cyber-secure, agile and enables effective business operations through pro-active development of technology solutions and optimal availability including disaster recovery.

  • In collaboration with the Compliance Manager and Chief Information Security Officer ensure compliance with all aspects of the Data Protection Act 2018 and support re-certification of ISO requirements including ISO27001, ISO9001 and ISO20000 and ensure systems comply with the requirements of NHS Digital and other 3rd party healthcare providers
  • In collaboration with the Chief Information Technology Officer managing IT support for a customer base of 170 employees on 2 geographical sites managing patching, back up and data security protocols are enforced across the organisation
  • Ensuring disaster recovery plans are reviewed and tested on a regular basis
  • Undertake system audits and formulate appropriate response plans
  • Pro-actively working across all teams to promote IT solutions that automate manual tasks
  • Leading, managing, motivating, and coaching a multi-skilled IT support team to ensure their skills are continually developed to deliver business objectives
  • Providing appropriate KPIs and management reports
  • To verify and audit compliance with policy, relevant codes of practice and appropriate legislation including the Data Protection Act in all matters relating to security
  • Implement quality management and regulatory compliance strategies ensuring all requirements are kept to standard and updated


  • Ideally a degree in IT or similar related experience
  • Proven track record of managing IT infrastructure including automated monitoring, estate upgrades and budget responsibility
  • A natural collaborator able to influence senior stakeholders in relation to the importance of pro-active and regular IT upgrades
  • Awareness of both cloud based and on-premise hosting together with appropriate risk management and disaster recovery procedures
  • Proven ability to maintain IT standards including ITIL, ISO 27001, ISO 9001, IG Toolkit, DPA and Cyber Essentials


  • Windows Server Platform Management
  • Active Directory & Group Policy
  • Security platforms such as Crowdstrike, strong patching and security ethos
  • Sonicwall NSA Firewalls
  • Build and Application packaging
  • Microsoft Azure, Office 365, SharePoint & Onedrive
  • Familiar with Firewalls such as Sonicwall Enterprise Firewalls
  • Experience managing Cisco Equipment – Nexus and Catalyst switches, routers and firewalls
  • Linux RHEL/CentOS environments
  • BASH and Powershell Scripting
  • Virtualisation (VMware)
  • MFA solutions across multiple platforms
  • HP nimble storage


  • NHS Governance/HSCIC/HSCN experience
  • Experience of development systems will also be of benefit.
