Job Description

Joining a vibrant global business that is leading the way in a new and upcoming market sector of Consumer Product Customisation. Who is looking for a long term, dependable and proactive person to join the IT team. The ideal person for the role must have previous IT experience in support, preferably working with multiple systems and clients. They will need to be self-motivated, with the ability to proactively seek out work.

Although they will be working with in the IT team under the head of IT and the IT manager, they will be required take ownership of their work and responsibilities. Taking pride in everything they do and ensuring its completed to a high standard. This will include, not only the task, but the supporting work around it. Such as documentation and updates to the wider team. The candidate will need to keep an open mind around technology, and not afraid to think outside the box, as well as suggesting improvements.

This will be a varied role. They will be working with both our in-house end users, as well as our external clients. Supporting both to a high and professional standard.

Internally they will be supporting everything from, plugging in a new computer to helping improve the overall infrastructure. A background with Office 365 and Azure would is essential, as the business is moving more towards the cloud. The primary focus for the candidate will be our Azure infrastructure, and ensuring its running efficiently and up to date. This will include being “commercially” aware, and help the business be cost effective in using the Azure technology. There will still be a requirement for on premises equipment and infrastructure for some time, so a requirement for knowledge of windows server/Hyper V based environment is required. As well as having extensive experience of windows desktop support.

You will also be required to help and own various IT based projects, with the guidance and support of the IT manager. Projects can vary from PC upgrades or software install, up to larger server builds or infrastructure redesigns.

You will also be part of an on call rota to support the business and clients in the evenings and weekends. This will include support for both internal and external support enquiries.

Key Responsibilities

  • The installation, Configuration, operation, provisioning and maintenance of our applications, services and infrastructure hosted in Azure and locally.
  • The installation, configuration, support for our applications and services for our clients.
  • The installation, Configuration, operation, provisioning and maintenance of our development/staging infrastructure.
  • Working with our Developers to test and deploy updates
  • Ensuring user access to server and applications environments is tightly controlled
  • Helping to ensure core systems such as active directory and Office 365, are well maintained and kept to a tidy standard
  • Ensuring systems are regularly patched, access audited and personal information is stored appropriately
  • Assisting in maintaining and implementing updates in relation to our ISO27001
  • Contributing ideas and suggestions to improve ways of working, both in your role and in the wider business
  • Working with our colleagues around the world to offer 24×7 support to maintain the smooth running of our platform
  • Documentation and Change control
  • Assisting with Ad-Hoc projects for the business.
  • Assisting in 1st/2nd line support
  • Being part of on call rota – once every 4-5 weeks
  • General desktop and office IT equipment troubleshooting
  • Virtual Server configuration
  • Laptop/PC workstation set-up and configuration
  • O365 administration, Teams, Sharepoint, OneDrive
  • Internal software and hardware deployment
  • Liaising with 3rd party service providers
  • Carry out system auditing and maintenance
  • Creating and maintaining IT system related procedures, guides, and user documentation
  • New starter and leaver administration
  • Ensuring Change control is followed

Required Skills

  • IT related or relevant work experience/qualifications
  • Knowledge of Windows servers and network equipment
  • Good working knowledge and experience with Azure – 2 years
  • Good understanding of Azure Cost models
  • Analysis and problem solving skills
  • Desire to learn new skills and systems
  • Strong communication skills and effectively explain technical issues
  • MS SQL administration
  • IIS Web administration

  • Supporting multiple sites with large amount of users
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V environment
  • Management and upkeep of Dell servers and SAN’s
