Role: MySQL Database Administrator

Salary: up to £55k (Depending on Experience)

Location: Reading (2 day per week)


  • Monitor and Improve Database performance, durability and security
  • Provision new MySQL instances, clusters and databases
  • Ensure documentation is up to date as well
  • Train others to be able to perform simple emergency fixes
  • Manage day to day upgrades, backups and migrations of new and existing MySQL instances
  • Providing regular updates on progress of development tasks

Required Experience

  • Previous experience as a MySQL Database Administrator
  • Experience of working on Linux
  • Experience with replication configuration
  • Knowledge of standard and best practices in MySQL
  • Understanding of MySQL storage engines

Desirable skills

  • Experience with Bash, Perl or Python
  • Understanding of PHP and its interfaces to MySQL Databases
