Last week, Tom, our International ServiceNow and Salesforce specialist, dusted off the passport and flew over to Prague to meet with one of his customers – Guide Vision

It’s great to get out and about…

Last week I had the pleasure of travelling over to Prague to visit a longstanding customer of som3’s, a ServiceNow Specialist Consultancy, Guide Vision. We’ve been recruiting with them now for over 4 years and out of all our customers, they have to be one of the friendliest bunch you can imagine. It’s been 2 years since I saw them last and when I found out that one of their Country Manager’s was over from Warsaw (someone who I deal with regularly), doing some workshops, I knew it would be a good excuse to go over and visit, as well as catch up with others I hadn’t seen for some time.

It was a wonderful afternoon with Adam Rurarz and Kristy Holubová, catching up both personally and professionally. We spoke about current engagements and how they were working out, and also future opportunities with the company. Now, one could argue that this is all possible over the phone or email, but there was a different feel to it, conducting this ‘business’ in person. Just being there made all the difference to me and hopefully to them also. Before I knew it 3 hours had gone by and it was time to let them get back to work . Thank you again the pair of you for your hospitality and I look forward to visiting again, this time in the new offices!

Whilst out there in Prague it made sense to catch up with a current contractor of som3 as he is based there, and once again, it made such a difference from the regular WhatsApp conversation, or monthly email chasing timesheets! We went out for a lovely lunch, based on a recommendation of his and I must admit, despite my initial reservations of the restaurant’s cuisine (Georgian), it was awesome. We spoke very briefly about work but mainly about him, his life prior to Czechia (he was originally in Ukraine) and how his life has changed over the years. He told me about how his project work was going and how much he was enjoying working for…you guessed it, Guide Vision! A delightful way to spend the Thursday afternoon before my last meeting of the day with a potential new customer and old contact of mine, Tomas Humpa.

There are so many good places to eat and drink in Prague and Tomas and his colleague Jan had chosen somewhere local to my hotel, Hybernska Pub. If you haven’t been before, I highly recommend. Great food and even better selection of beers. Once again, very little chat about work (although there were some useful snippets) and more getting to know them personally and finding out about their love for BBC Documentaries and Red Dwarf! Hours later it was time to head back to the hotel, but not after they’d invited me back later in the year to try out some new watering holes and chat business.

So, 3 incredibly rewarding ‘meetings’ in the space of 2 days and that was that for Prague 2025. It’s taught me the importance of getting out to see customers more often and how it doesn’t have to ‘feel’ like a ‘business’ meeting. If relationships are built beforehand then these ‘meetings’ are effortless and very enjoyable, hopefully only strengthening what was already there.

Only downside, Luton Airport/Wizz Air lost my luggage on the way home….b*llox!
